Good evening all,
It's time again for our next neighborhood meeting!
We'll open with a few of our regular guest speakers (Community Action Officers, hoping for either Councilwoman Pastor's office or Neighborhood Services). The main agenda item this month will be planning for our neighborhood holiday luminaria display, and the help we'll need to pull it off. Ideally, we'll be looking to cover ALL of Simpson, but we'll need our neighbors' help to make it happen.
We're going on the road with our meetings, so our neighbors can meet some of the other businesses and organizations around Simpson! Our host for this meeting will be Senza Pelo Medspa, at 5702 N. 19th Avenue (northwest corner of 19th and Montebello). The meeting will be held on November 16th, and we'll be setting up with refreshments provided by Maria DeNicola at 6:00 pm, with the meeting starting in the back courtyard at 6:30!
Our fall newsletter with a bit more information is attached. Hope to see you all soon!

It’s that time of year again. Holidays are fast approaching and time to start planning for the Simpson Neighborhood Annual Luminaria display, Annual Hot Chocolate Social, and the
Holiday Decorating contest.
Luminaria & Hot Chocolate Social
This year thanks to grant money we are able to cover even more ground than previous years. We have a total of 9500 luminarias to distribute throughout our neighborhood. That should cover a very good chunk of the neighborhood. Which brings us around to trying to figure out how we pull this off. 21st Ave, 23rd Ave, and Missouri will be covered by volunteers. That leaves the interior streets we need help with.
4 ways to Help:
Volunteer to be a Street Captain: by calling or emailing us by 12/10.
Street Captains will receive all the supplies (sand, bags, candles), instructions, and be asked to assemble and place the luminaries on their street on 12/17 starting after 4pm.
Streets without volunteers may not be covered by luminarias
Volunteer to set up the Hot Chocolate Social: by calling or emailing us by 12/10.
Set up will begin at 6pm at 1944 W Luke Ave
Donating: cookies or refreshments for the Hot Chocolate Social
Donations can be dropped off any time the week before the event
Picking up: and tossing in the trash any luminaria debris along your street on Sunday 12/19
Holiday Decoration Display Contest
Back by popular demand. We will be holding the decorating contest again this year. Get out there and put up your favorite displays. Light up the neighborhood.
Judging
Judging will be happening 12/18
