Communities Matter. Community Matters.
It’s warming up out there. Please keep an eye on our neighbors out there. You never know when an AC might go out or they just need a shady place to rest on the walk home or a bottle of water. If you need a cooling station check out the City of Phoenix Heat Response on their website for more details.
Grant Funding
Thanks to Steven Still’s tireless efforts we have secured another year of Block Watch Grant funding to purchase even more items to share with neighbors. Look for window and door alarms, first aid kits, no soliciting signs, fire blankets, additional padlocks, motion lights, flashlights, and door chain locks to be available first come first serve to neighbors at our next GAIN event. Thanks to grant funds we also have tables, chairs, 10x10 pop up tents, sound equipment, movie projector and inflatable movie screen available for our neighbors to borrow. If you would like to use any of these items please reach out and we will coordinate pick up and drop off. This grant also funds the storage unit for all the party supplies, flyer distribution, liability insurance for the events held, and the Simpson website registration. We could not continue all the exciting things we do without this vital funding.
Special Guests
Our next neighborhood meeting in September has some special guests from the Council Person’s office that will be attending. Please be sure to watch the newsletter for more location details and come with your burning questions for your Council Person.
Neighborhood Updates We are working with various city departments on regular issues along Bethany Home, 19th Avenue, Camelback, and the I-17 Access Road. The more neighbors that contact the city with their concerns, the more success and impact we will have. Please continue reporting blight, trespassing, dumping, and other regular issues to the city. Don’t forget that My Phoenix 311 app can be used to report violations, street issues, and more. All city programs are complaint based so using the app to make them aware is the best way to get concerns addressed.
