The busy holiday season is coming up. In Simpson this means our 10th Annual Luminary Display/Hot Chocolate Social and the holiday display contest. 

Annual Events

We can not lie to you; these are some of our favorite events. This year we are holding the 10th Annual Luminary event the weekend of December 12-14th. We can not pull this off without volunteers to be ‘Street Captains’. Sadly no fancy super man type shirts come with this duty but all the supplies to assemble and display luminaries for your street will be provided. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering and we’ll get your street added and supplies to you. 

The Hot Chocolate Social will be the evening of December 12th at 1944 W Luke Ave. We will have a holiday family friendly movie playing on the big screen, a fire pit to warm up, hot chocolate and whatever goodies neighbors supply to snack on. It is a great way to get out and enjoy the luminaries, meet some neighbors, and generally have a good time. All are welcome. 

But wait, there is more. The annual holiday display contest will be running this year. Judging will be December 21st for the Best Overall Display, Best Classic Display, Clark Griswold, and Most Holiday Cheer. 

But wait, there is even more. We are restarting our alley clean up projects again on February 21st. Location will be determined based on the highest needs at the time. We will need man power to pull this off from people to pick up trash to people to run weed whackers and haul debris to the dumpsters. 

Tree Planting 

Sadly activities did not allow for the schedule to align for the October planting. The new target date is the week of February 23rd ending in the celebration event on February 28th to get the free supplies to keep your tree healthy and thriving. fAt this time, we don’t know if there will be another grant available for 2026 but as soon as we know we will be letting neighbors know to get signed up for more shade in our area.

• Alley Clean Up February 21st 8am Location TBD based on need

• Tree Planting week of February 23rd

• Planting Celebration February 28th at 1944 W Luke Ave 8am-noon
