As we wrap up our beautiful spring days and head into the warmer stretch of the year, this is a great time to prepare for the Arizona summer ahead. Remember to check on your irrigation and landscaping, stay hydrated, and keep an eye out for pets and wildlife that may be seeking shade or water. Let’s continue to look out for one another as the temperatures rise — here’s to a safe and sunny start to summer in our community!

Tree Planting 

We planted roughly 60 trees around our neighborhood this February. That’s going to be some nice shade in the next few years. Thank you to the neighbors that signed up for trees and for the patience in getting the scheduling ready. 

GAIN Event 

It is finally time. GAIN is coming April 4th. We will have hamburgers and hotdogs for neighbors, potluck on the sides and dessert so bring a dish to pass. This is the event that we will have all the great items purchased with the grant funds available first come first serve. Fire blankets, door locks, solar motion lights, no soliciting signs, and more. Come to 1944 W. Luke Ave between 10am & 2pm for food, fun, and free things. 

Reminder of your rights

Sharing for neighbors to be able to exercise all their legal rights. In the event an law enforcement officer comes to your door these are the legally safe things to say:

“I do not wish to speak with you, answer your questions, or sign or hand you any documents based on my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. I do not give you permission to enter my home based on my 4th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution unless you have a warrant to enter, signed by a judge or magistrate with my name on it that you slide under the door. I do not give you permission to search any of my belongings based on my 4th Amendment rights. I choose to exercise my constitutional rights.”

Upcoming Elections

As a reminder, election season is firing up again (and yes, it is really early)! The first many of us will be eligible to vote in will be the SPR board, and I strongly encourage looking into participating as they oversee our power and water supplies. This summer will see the primary elections for the state, and then the fall will be the main elections. The fall date will also include voting for a new City Council member to represent us as Councilwoman Pastor has served the max time allowed. We will share more info in the coming months!

Al terminar nuestros hermosos días de primavera y entrar en la temporada más cálida del año, es un buen momento para prepararse para el verano arizonense que se avecina. Plantación de árboles 

Plantamos unos 60 árboles en nuestro vecindario este febrero. Nos darán una sombra agradable en los próximos años. Gracias a los vecinos que se inscribieron para tener árboles y por la paciencia para preparar la programación.

Evento GAIN

¡Por fin llegó la hora! GAIN llega el 4 de abril. Tendremos hamburguesas y hot dogs para los vecinos, acompañamientos para compartir y postre, así que traigan un plato para compartir. En este evento, tendremos todos los artículos deliciosos adquiridos con los fondos de la subvención, disponibles por orden de llegada. Mantas ignífugas, cerraduras, luces solares con sensor de movimiento, letreros de no solicitar y más. Vengan a 1944 W. Luke Ave entre las 10 a. m. y las 2 p. m. para disfrutar de comida, diversión y regalos.

Próximas elecciones

Este verano se celebrarán las elecciones primarias estatales, y luego, en otoño, las elecciones principales.
